Texas Central Registry

Texas Central Registry

The little-known state database known as the Central Registry was originally created in 1995 to help child care centers run background checks on potential employees.

Currently over 6000 Texas children are currently in the registry, accused of mistreating other children. We don’t know how many of those are among those being offered up for adoption right now. But parents can have their agency get an "all clear" letter from the Central Registry for any child they might consider adopting.
